About the event
The Nassau Pops Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1984 by Managing Director Dawn Manuel and Music Director Louis Panacciulli to fill a void on Long Island for an orchestra devoted to light classical and popular music. Since then, the orchestra has built a reputation for musical excellence and community service, performing a full summer concert series in many Nassau County parks. A typical evening might include famous classical overtures, Broadway medleys, movie and television music, and marches by John Philip Sousa, often featuring instrumental soloists and vocalists Jack and Ann Cassin.
The orchestra has had the privilege of working with many prestigious entertainers, including composer Marvin Hamlisch, singer Linda Eder, Saturday Night Live's Joe Piscopo, Marilyn Michaels, The Cast of Beatlemania, the original members of The Brooklyn Bridge, songwriter Jimmy Webb, the NY BeeGees, Let's Hang On, and Tony Danza.
